Sessions judge, guard killed in Mastung highway attack

MASTUNG: A sessions judge and his security guard were killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle on the National Highway in Balochistan’s Mastung district, while an Additional Sessions Judge and another person sustained serious injuries.

According to Deputy Commissioner Mastung Behram Saleem, the victims included Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his gunman, who were martyred in the attack. Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari and another individual were critically injured.

The deputy commissioner said Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar was traveling from Quetta to Mastung when armed assailants opened fire on his vehicle. The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital immediately after the incident.

District Police Officer (DPO) said the Sessions Judge and the Additional Sessions Judge were on their way from Quetta to the Sessions Court in Mastung when the attack took place. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.

The Balochistan government strongly condemned the attack and directed authorities to take decisive action against those responsible for the act of terrorism.
