PML-N accuses PPP of holding grudge against Punjab

Reacting to the statements given by PPP spokespersons ahead of the general elections in AJK, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said on Thursday that the PML-N knew fully well why the PPP hated Punjab.

“The reason why the party hates Punjab and holds a grudge against it is that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, spends money on the people of the province,” she said, adding that despite the fact that CM Maryam took office only two years ago, still she transferred resources from big cities of the province to small cities. “This is what the ‘Nawabs of Larkana’ find hard to digest,” she opined.

Azma said it was not the PML-N’s fault if the PPP was the fourth most popular party in Punjab. “The people of the province repose their trust in the PML-N government and are satisfied with its policies,” the minister claimed.

She went on to say that when Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab had come to Lahore to learn from Punjab’s experience, the provincial government welcomed him. “We want Sindh to also develop and prosper on Punjab’s pattern.”

She said that the politics of hatred and division did not suit PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto. “You are the chairman of a political party,” she said, adding, “Please think before you utter words.”

Azma said she was at a loss to understand why the PPP spokespersons did not shed light on their party’s government’s performance in Sindh.
