Govt earmarks Rs10 billion for export-oriented industries

Taking an important step towards increasing the country’s exports, the federal government on Saturday approved the allocation of Rs10 billion for the export sector.

The government will assist textile, garments and other export-oriented industries under different schemes.

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan said that the provision of funds under duty drawback and technology upgradation schemes would help improve liquidity of these industries and help them increase their exports.

“Besides that, the production capacity and competitiveness of industries will improve courtesy technology upgradation,” he hoped.

The minister said the government was taking steps to provide incentives to industries so that the countries exports could increase.
