Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad on Saturday said that he prayed to the Almighty Allah for the release of all those who were languishing in jails on political grounds, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to the media outside an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi, he said it was so unfortunate that his nephew Sheikh Rashid Shafiq was sentenced to 60 years behind bars. “On May 9, I was not in the country,” he said, adding that presently the country was confronted with issues like joblessness and inflation. “I pray to the Almighty Allah that these issues are resolved.”
Rasheed told media men that the next hearing of the May 9 case would be on August 29. “I hope that justice will be done in my case.”
