Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called an emergency meeting of its leadership after receiving a government offer aimed at ending the party’s long march through Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, it was reported on Thursday.
According to the TV channel report, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has become involved in efforts to address the dispute surrounding the PTI long march.
After meeting a government delegation, the JUI-F leader contacted the PTI leadership and conveyed a government proposal to the party, sources said
Following the telephone conversation with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PTI called an emergency meeting.
According to sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman had advised the government to resolve the political dispute through dialogue and mutual understanding instead of imposing governor’s rule or an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The sources said the government subsequently asked Fazlur Rehman to play a role in resolving the issue.
A government delegation comprising Rana Sanaullah, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Tariq Fazal Chaudhary had met Fazlur Rehman a day earlier.
Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued a notice to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and sought his response in a petition concerning the alleged use of government resources for political activities during the long march.
The petition alleges that the chief minister has been using state resources for political activities and specifically claims that he used a government helicopter to travel to Lakki Marwat for the long march.
The petitioner also stated that the Peshawar High Court had imposed a ban in November 2025 on the use of government resources for political activities.
The court’s notice seeks a response from the chief minister regarding the allegations raised in the petition.
