The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that out-of-form opening batter Saim Ayub has been released from the Men’s ODI squad for the remainder of the ongoing tri-series, it was reported on Monday.
After a conversation with the head coach, Saim Ayub requested his desire to return to domestic cricket to work on his batting form and regain confidence.
Respecting Saim’s decision and appreciating his honest assessment of his current form, the team management and national selection committee have mutually agreed to accept this request.
The national selection committee has subsequently named Sahibzada Farhan as Saim’s replacement for the remainder of the tri-series.
Sahibzada Farhan is currently playing Nepal Premier League in Kathmandu. He will return to Pakistan on the first available flight.
Pakistan having qualified for the final with three consecutive wins, will face Sri Lanka in the fifth match of the tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.
Saim Ayub’s form fell from the rock in the recent past. In this particularly, he so far had played three matches and had scored seven runs against Sri Lanka, eight and six runs in two matches against England.
On Sunday, left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Moqim had been released from the Pakistan Men’s squad, keeping in view the nature of Lahore pitches. He will return to play domestic cricket.
Left-handed batter Maaz Sadaqat has been added to the squad as cover for players carrying minor niggles.
