Haris Rauf fined for ICC Code of Conduct breach in tri-series match against England

LAHORE: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf 20 percent of his match fee for breaching the code of conduct during the One-Day International (ODI) match against England in Lahore.

The incident took place on Sunday at the end of Pakistan’s 46th over, when Rauf appealed for a wide and became involved in an argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks.

During the exchange, Rauf raised his bat and continued arguing despite a warning from umpire Sharfuddoula. The ICC found the Pakistani fast bowler guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of its Code of Conduct.

According to the ICC, Rauf was fined 20 percent of his match fee and received one demerit point on his disciplinary record. It was his third offence within a 24-month period, taking his total number of demerit points to five.

Rauf admitted his mistake and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.

Meanwhile, England were also fined 15 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate and failing to bowl three overs within the stipulated time. England captain Harry Brook accepted the offence and the proposed penalty.

Pakistan secured a thrilling one-wicket victory over England to qualify for the final of the tri-nation ODI series. The team will face Sri Lanka in the final on October 31.
