LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media activist Sanam Javed Khan has filed a khula (dissolution of marriage) petition to separate from her husband, Atiq, in a Lahore family court, it was reported on Saturday.
The court has issued a notice to Atiq Riaz, asking him to submit his reply by November 25.
Sanam Javed is currently serving a sentence at Kot Lakhpat Jail in connection with the May 9 cases.
The court will hear her khula application again on November 25.
The legal development was confirmed by her lawyer, Barrister Khadija Siddiqui, via social media.
Her legal team has urged media outlets, journalists, and online commentators to respect her privacy and avoid unnecessary speculation regarding the personal family matter.
