Lahore Qalandars player tested positive for coronavirus: reports

Lahore Qalandars’ speedster Haris Rauf has tested positive for Covid-19, according to media reports on Monday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a statement in the early hours of Saturday morning stating that an unnamed player has tested positive for the pathogen.

As per sources inside the PCB, Qalandars’ star pacer Rauf is the unnamed player. He is going through a mandatory 10-day quarantine in a hotel room in Karachi.

The 27-year-old did not take part in the team’s opening fixture of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 edition against Peshawar Zalmi on Monday.

Rauf made his debut in the third edition of PSL for the Qalandars. He was inducted into the national squad for the T20 series against Bangladesh in January 2020.

The right-armer holds the honor of the fastest delivery during the Players Development Program held by the Qalandars in September 2017 where he was selected for the first time.

He said he snuck out of home to participate in the trials because his family was against the idea of him playing cricket.

After being drafted, he was sent to the Lahore Qalandars Academy and played in the Big Bash League for Melbourne Stars.
