KARACHI: Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has highlighted the positives for the Men in Green from the recent T20I series against England, which they lost 2-1 to the hosts.
While speaking to Media, Rizwan said that the performance of spinners was encouraging ahead of the T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in UAE later this year.
“England series was a major test before the global event starts in the Gulf. But I think our boys did very well against a team that is number one in T20 cricket” Rizwan said. “We played competitive cricket in the T20 series against England. The decider went into the last over.
Our spinners stood up, which is a really good sign before the UAE event where spinners will play an important role,” he added. Rizwan scored two fifties as an opener in the aforementioned three-match series and has risen to number seven, career-best, in the ICC T20I rankings for batsman. “Batting up the order gives me freedom as I have played most of my cricket there in domestic level. I wasn’t a wicketkeeper initially but a good fielder. —agencies
