Naya Pakistan cannot be built with a push of button: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said that Naya Pakistan cannot be built with a push of button but it is the name of a struggle and it takes time to bring changes in the system.

Addressing the inaugural function of Pakistan Property, Housing and Construction Expo in Islamabad on Friday, he said that the people do not pay taxes but ask for facilities. He said Pakistan has never had a policy for the weaker segment of the society but, “Our mission is to improve the living standards of the poor.”

The prime minister said, “We will do everything possible to help the housing sector, adding that the poor people in Pakistan need houses.” He said no one has provided the facility for the poor people to build houses but now the banks will provide loans to the poor people to build houses.

IMRAN SAYS CHINA IS A ROLE MODEL FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION IN WORLD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday termed food security and improved nutrition big challenges for developing countries and said China’s innovative Juncao technology could prove helpful in poverty alleviation and sustainable development.

“Such innovative, affordable and eco-friendly technologies may help catalyse our progress towards achieving the first two Sustainable Development Goals: no poverty and zero hunger,” the prime minister said in his video message screened at the Forum on the 20th Anniversary of Juncao Assistance and Sustainable Development Cooperation.

Juncao, which is famed as ‘magic grass’, has two Chinese characters meaning ‘mushroom’ and ‘grass’. The particular breed of grass was discovered by the Chinese scientists to be an economical and environment-friendly substitute for timber traditionally used as a substrate for growing mushrooms.

PM TERMS FILLING OF TARBELA DAM A GOOD OMEN: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the filling of Tarbela Dam to its maximum level, despite unfavourable weather conditions this year, is a good omen for agriculture and hydel power generation.

“Alhamdulillah, Tarbela Dam filled to its max level yesterday, despite unfavourable weather conditions this year. This is a good omen for agriculture and hydel generation,” the prime minister said in a tweet.

He also appreciated the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and Indus River System Authority (Irsa) teams for improved water regulations.

PM APPROVES STRINGENT MEASURES FOR 24 DISTRICTS AMID VIRUS SURGE: In view of the deteriorating situation of coronavirus across the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved special measures for the country’s 24 districts.

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) submitted a report to PM Imran on the situation of coronavirus across the country.

The NCOC report stated that the districts most affected by coronavirus include 15 districts of Punjab and 8 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following which the PM approved a ban on all types of indoor events in the affected districts.
