The New York Times reports that the Israeli military inserted explosives into pagers imported from Taiwan to carry out the attack on Hezbollah members in Lebanon on Tuesday.
US officials informed about the operation allege that the pagers, sourced from Taiwanese company Gold Apollo, were modified before reaching Lebanon.
The majority of the pagers were the AP924 model, with three other Gold Apollo models included in the shipment. According to the report, each pager contained one to two ounces (30 to 60 grams) of explosive material next to the battery and a remotely operable detonator.
The explosions of these devices across Lebanon and Syria have resulted in at least nine deaths and 2,750 injuries. Israel has not yet acknowledged responsibility for the attack.
