Severe rain warning issued for next 24 hours, urban flooding feared: NDMA

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of heavy rainfall across various parts of the country in the next 24 hours, with the risk of urban flooding and overflowing streams and rivers.

According to the NDMA spokesperson, strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rain are expected in Lahore, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, and Khushab over the next 12 hours. Similar weather conditions are forecasted for Sargodha, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad.

Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Hafizabad are also likely to experience heavy rains. In the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, intermittent heavy rainfall is expected to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours.

The NDMA has assured that timely preventive measures are being taken in coordination with relevant departments. The spokesperson urged the public to avoid crossing flooded roads, bridges, and streams with strong currents to ensure safety.
