The Israeli army says it has carried out an assassination attempt on top Hamas leaders in Qatar’s capital, Doha, where multiple explosions have been heard.
The attack happened as a negotiating team was discussing a Gaza ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States.
The site that was targeted by Israel in Doha is close to a residential neighbourhood – not an isolated area.
According to Al Jazeera, Palestinian leader Azhar Jabbareen was martyred in the strike. Arab media reported that Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya was also martyred .
Israeli media claimed that the United States had been informed before the air strike on Hamas leaders in Doha.
Qatar condemned the attack, describing it as a clear violation of international law. The government announced that a high-level investigation into the incident had begun.
