PCB considers boycotting Asia Cup 2025 as as standoff with ICC intensifies

A meeting of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) high officials is currently underway in Islamabad, with a significant decision expected regarding the nation’s participation in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, it was reported on Tuesday.

Sources revealed that Pakistan is seriously considering boycotting the tournament following the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) refusal to remove match referee Andy Pycroft.

The controversy surrounding Pycroft, accused by the PCB of collusion with Indian officials and breaching ICC’s code of conduct, has intensified tensions between Pakistan and the global cricketing body.

Despite Pakistan presenting evidence and formally requesting his replacement, the ICC declined to take action, prompting a strong reaction from the PCB.

In protest, Pakistan boycotted a scheduled press conference earlier today, signaling its mounting frustration with what it perceives as unfair treatment.

Officials at the Islamabad meeting are said to be weighing significant decisions, with insiders expecting a major announcement soon.

The potential withdrawal from the Asia Cup would represent one of Pakistan’s boldest moves in recent cricket history, raising questions over the tournament’s future and the stability of regional cricket relations.
