Lesco starts buying old static meters instead of AMI smart meters again

Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has once again started the process of purchasing old “static meters” instead of implementing AMI single-phase smart meters project, it was reported on Friday.

According to sources, the company will bear the cost of about Rs1 billion for the purchase of single-phase meters. Lesco decided to purchase 225,000 single-phase static meters.

Lesco had decided to purchase single-phase smart meters by banning static meters two months ago.

In light of the instructions of the Ministry of Power Division, the installation of ordinary meters was suddenly banned.

Due to lack of stock with Lesco, the meters could not be installed by the consumers.

Lesco had misled the consumers by taking the help of the Ministry of Power Division letter.

Lesco needs single-phase meters on the basis of new connection and defective code.

The company has started purchasing static meters again for the convenience of the consumers.
