Pakistan begins installation of first FIFA Arena pitch in Lahore under grassroots football initiative

Pakistan has commenced installation of its first FIFA Arena mini football pitch, marking a significant step toward promoting grassroots football in the country, officials said on Monday.

The initiative has been launched by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), with the inaugural modern pitch being constructed at a government school in the Sabzazar area of Lahore.

PFF President Mohsin Gilani said the project reflects the federation’s commitment to expanding access to football at the community level. “We are determined to give every child a chance to play football,” he stated.

He added that work on a second FIFA Arena pitch is expected to begin soon in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of the broader rollout plan.

According to officials, a total of 11 FIFA Arena pitches have already been approved for Pakistan, while a further request has been submitted for 15 additional facilities to expand the programme nationwide.

The government of Pakistan has assured full support for the initiative, including provision of necessary facilities to ensure timely completion and sustainability of the project.

The development is part of a collaborative effort involving FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), aimed at strengthening football infrastructure and nurturing young talent across the country.
