FPCCI forms new global committees to boost Pakistan’s trade outreach

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has announced the formation of new national committees aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s engagement with key regional and international economic platforms.

In a statement issued on Saturday, FPCCI said the committees will represent Pakistan at major global forums, including the Economic Cooperation Organization Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan–EU Business Forum, Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan–ASEAN Business Forum, the Commonwealth, D-8 Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

The federation also launched a nationwide membership drive, inviting trade bodies, chambers and associations from across the country to join and actively participate in its initiatives.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said the move is designed to improve Pakistan’s representation and participation in global economic discussions. He explained that the new structure will help ensure a more organised and effective approach to promoting the country’s trade and investment interests abroad.

According to him, the committees will include experienced members of the business community and other relevant stakeholders who understand international markets. These representatives will review global economic trends, monitor policy changes, and explore new business opportunities for Pakistan. They will also work closely with international chambers and Pakistan’s commercial missions overseas to build stronger ties.

The FPCCI president said the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to preparing Pakistan’s business sector for changing global economic conditions. He added that the committees will play an important role in improving trade diplomacy, encouraging bilateral and multilateral cooperation, identifying new export and investment opportunities, and offering policy recommendations to the government.

He expressed confidence that the new committees will help expand Pakistan’s economic presence worldwide, strengthen links with foreign partners, and support sustainable economic growth while ensuring representation from trade bodies across the country.
