Alarming rise in HIV cases reaches Parliament

The growing number of HIV cases in Taunsa and several other parts of Pakistan has become a serious national concern, with the issue now raised in Parliament.

Senator Sarmad Ali has submitted a call-attention notice in the Senate over what he described as a troubling increase in HIV infections. In his notice, he has asked the Federal Health Minister to explain the reasons behind the surge and outline the steps being taken to control the situation.

The senator expressed particular concern over the rise in cases in Islamabad, saying it raises serious questions about public health management. He stressed that urgent and practical measures are needed to stop the further spread of the virus across the country.

The notice also calls for an immediate review of the performance of the National AIDS Control Program. It highlights unsafe medical practices, poor screening systems, and a lack of public awareness as possible reasons behind the increasing infections.

Senator Ali emphasized the need to improve safe blood transfusion systems and expand access to reliable testing facilities. He also underlined the importance of providing clear and accurate information to the public to prevent fear and misinformation.

The rising number of HIV cases is being seen as a major challenge for Pakistan’s healthcare system. Lawmakers have urged health authorities to strengthen monitoring efforts and launch stronger awareness campaigns to prevent further spread of the disease.
