Iran protests seizure of its ships by US at UN

Iran has registered a protest at the United Nations against the confiscation of its ships by the US, it was reported on Wednesday.

In a letter to the UN secretary general and the Security Council president, the country’s delegate at the UN, Amir-Saeid Iravani, has described the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as sea piracy.

Iravani has written that such an act amounts to an interference in global trade.

Spokesman for Iran’s Security Council Ibrahim Razai said on Wednesday that no force in the world could take away from Iran control over the Strait of Hormuz, which he said was ‘unshakeable’.

He said that not a single litre of petrol could pass through the Strait without Iran’s permission.

On the other hand, the spokesman for Iran’s armed forces said that despite the ceasefire, the country was still in a state of war. “Neither Iran trusts the US nor Israel,” he has said.
