Foreign ministers from 11 countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Brazil, Spain and Malaysia, have issued a joint statement strongly condemning what they described as an Israeli attack on the Global Samood flotilla, calling it a violation of international law.
The joint statement termed the flotilla a peaceful civil and humanitarian initiative aimed at drawing global attention to the ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The ministers said the reported attack constituted a clear breach of international law and international humanitarian law.
They also condemned the alleged illegal detention of humanitarian workers in international waters and expressed deep concern over the safety and security of civilian personnel involved in the mission.
The foreign ministers demanded the immediate release of those detained, urging Israeli authorities to take necessary steps to ensure their prompt freedom.
Calling on the global community to act, the statement stressed that protecting international law and safeguarding civilians is a shared responsibility. It added that ensuring accountability for alleged violations by Israel is both a moral and legal obligation.
The joint statement was also endorsed by the foreign ministers of Bangladesh, Colombia, Jordan, Libya, the Maldives and South Africa.
