Pakistani actress and social media star Dananeer Mobeen has come under heavy criticism on social media after appearing in a bold western outfit during the overseas promotion campaign of her upcoming film Mera Lyari.
The actress, who is currently in the United Kingdom promoting the film, shared pictures from her latest appearance that quickly sparked debate online.
Dananeer wore a grey tweed two-piece outfit featuring a fitted jacket and a short skirt paired with black sheer tights. The modern western look attracted mixed reactions from social media users, with many praising her confidence and fashion sense, while others criticised the outfit for being too bold.
Several users expressed disappointment over what they described as changing trends among Pakistani celebrities. Critics questioned the actress’s dressing choice and argued that public figures should maintain modesty while representing Pakistani entertainment internationally.

Some harsh comments also appeared online, with users calling the outfit “inappropriate” and “vulgar”, while others claimed that young celebrities were moving away from traditional cultural values.
At the same time, many fans defended Dananeer, saying actors should have the freedom to choose their personal style and fashion without facing online harassment.
The debate once again highlighted the growing divide on social media regarding celebrity fashion, modern styling and public expectations from female stars in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
Dananeer Mobeen first gained nationwide fame through her viral “Pawri Ho Rahi Hai” video, which turned her into an overnight internet sensation across South Asia. She later successfully entered Pakistan’s television and film industry and built a strong fan following.
Her upcoming film Mera Lyari is a sports-based drama set in Karachi’s Lyari area and focuses on local youth talent and social realities. The movie has been written and directed by Abu Aleeha and features a cast including Ayesha Omar, Samiya Mumtaz, Nayyar Ejaz and Adnan Shah Tipu.
The film is scheduled for nationwide release on May 8, 2026.
