Section 144 imposed in Islamabad, public gatherings banned

ISLAMABAD: The district administration has announced the imposition of Section 144 in Islamabad, prohibiting public gatherings and assemblies across the city.

According to the administration, gatherings are also banned under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, 2024, which regulates public assemblies in Islamabad.

Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the restrictions.

They added that violations of the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, 2024, could result in imprisonment for up to three years.

The district administration has urged residents to refrain from participating in any illegal activities and ensure compliance with the law.

Citizens have also been asked to cooperate with security agencies and play their part in maintaining peace and public order in the federal capital.

In a separate advisory, the administration reiterated its instructions for residents to abide by the restrictions currently in force and avoid participating in any activity that could constitute a violation of the law.

The authorities emphasized the importance of public cooperation in ensuring security and preventing disruptions to public order.

The administration has advised citizens to remain mindful of the applicable restrictions and act responsibly, warning that violations could invite legal consequences under the relevant laws.
