Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to diplomacy and peaceful dialogue, saying it continues to play an active role in promoting stability in the region amid growing international tensions, it was reported on Thursday.
During the weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan believes in negotiations and diplomacy between countries as the primary means of resolving disputes and maintaining peace.
According to the channel report, the spokesperson stated that Pakistan was continuing its diplomatic engagement aimed at supporting regional peace efforts.
Andrabi said Pakistan reiterates its role as a mediator to defuse Middle East tensions.
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had held telephone conversations with the prime minister of Qatar and the president of Azerbaijan as part of ongoing diplomatic contacts.
The spokesperson said Ishaq Dar had also spoken with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and described the discussions between the two sides as constructive and meaningful.
He also rejected a report by American broadcaster CBS concerning Iranian aircraft, calling the report baseless and contrary to facts.
The spokesperson further condemned the militant attack on the Fateh Khel police checkpoint in Bannu and said Pakistan had summoned the Afghan chargé d’affaires and issued a formal diplomatic protest over the incident.
