Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Faheem-ur-Rehman Sehgal was leading the delegation.

The delegation informed about the issue of RUDA imposing Rs8 million per kanal charges on industries located in the Daroghawala and Sagian areas.

Lahore Chamber President Faheem-ur-Rehman Sehgal said the heavy charges imposed by RUDA on industries located in Daroghawala and Sagian areas are unfair. There are 1,500 small industrial units in the Daroghawala and Sagian areas, which provide employment to 150,000 families.

Faheem-ur-Rehman Sehgal said there is a cottage industry in Daroghawala and Sagian, and the issue of RUDA charges should be resolved.

Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain assured the industrialists that the issue will be resolved and the charges imposed by RUDA on the industry will be reviewed again.

He said to resolve the issue, RUDA and the Industry Department must come to the same page.

If the industry runs, employment opportunities will also be created, and in any case, the wheel of industry will not be allowed to stop, and the issue will be resolved on a priority basis, Ch Shafay said.

He said that until a final decision is taken on RUDA charges, RUDA will not take action against any factory.

However, there will be no compromise regarding environmental protection, he added.

Ch Shafay said the industry should ensure implementation of SOPs for environmental protection.

He said it is the responsibility of all of us to provide a pollution-free environment to future generations.

Whatever decision is taken through mutual consultation will be fully implemented, Imran Amin assured.
