Pakistan and Kuwait have agreed to increase cooperation in maritime sector, it was reported on Thursday.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between Kuwait’s ambassador in Pakistan Nassar Abdulrahman Almutairi with Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry in Islamabad on Thursday.
The minister invited Kuwait to invest in strategically located coastal and energy logistics corridors and outlined a wide range of maritime and port infrastructure projects to attract foreign capital.
The minister offered Kuwaiti ambassador opportunities in fuel storage, bonded terminal facilities, jetty construction, port infrastructure and the government’s planned “Energy City” initiative, aimed at developing integrated energy and logistics hubs near key ports.
The Kuwaiti envoy showed interest in Pakistan’s maritime and energy projects.
The minister invited Kuwait to become a partner with Pakistan in LPG, LNG and crude oil reserves projects.
He also assured the Kuwaiti investors the provision of all possible facilities.
Chaudhry told the envoy that there existed vast opportunities for investment in Gwadar Port and Port Qasim.
He informed that work was underway on setting up energy storage in Pakistan.
