‘Neither now nor in the future’, Veena Malik rules out politics

Veteran Pakistani actress Veena Malik has addressed growing speculation surrounding her possible entry into politics, making it clear that she has no plans to join the political arena anytime soon.

A viral video circulating on social media captured the actress speaking to the media, where she candidly responded to questions regarding her political views and online commentary.

Addressing the rumours, Veena said that many people have recently been asking whether she intends to enter politics. However, she firmly dismissed the speculation.

“Nowadays, many people ask me if I am getting into politics. I would like to clarify that I am very happy in my own space. At the moment, I have no intention of entering politics, and I don’t think I have any plans to do so in the future either,” she stated.

The actress also touched upon criticism she has received for expressing her opinions on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Referring to recent discussions surrounding her online activity, Veena remarked that public figures and ordinary citizens alike have every right to voice their political views.

“Even Waseem Bhai seemed upset with me recently and was repeatedly talking about my posts on Twitter. But I believe that every person who pays taxes and casts a vote has the right to have an opinion.”

She further emphasized that while her fans may admire her for her work in the entertainment industry, individuals should not be discouraged from expressing their political beliefs.

“I think my fans should appreciate me because of my work, but every individual is entitled to a political point of view, and that opinion should be strong and clear.”

Veena went on to argue that citizens should openly discuss governance and accountability rather than remain silent or politically indifferent.

“This is not the time to swing both ways or hesitate when discussing political matters. We pay taxes, and we deserve to know who is serving the country and who is ruining it. The party that people believe is best suited to govern should be given the opportunity to rule. I think we should be very clear about our views.”
