Strong winds, rain expected in Lahore, Islamabad after intense heatwave

After a spell of intense heat, several cities across Pakistan, including Lahore and Islamabad, are expected to receive strong winds followed by rainfall today (Thursday).

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that multiple districts of Punjab, including Lahore, are likely to experience intermittent rainfall until June 13.

Meteorological officials stated that Lahore’s minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26°C, while the maximum could reach up to 41°C over the next 24 hours. The city’s current temperature was recorded at 34°C, with humidity levels rising to 46 percent and winds blowing at around 16 km/h.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also forecast rain for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and surrounding areas later in the day.

In other developments, heavy winds and rain in Karak and nearby regions have already brought down temperatures, making the weather pleasant.

Authorities warned that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience thunderstorms and hailstorms from today, particularly in Malakand and Hazara divisions. Rain and hail are also expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Abbottabad, while strong winds and showers are likely in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and other districts.
