Cases of gastroenteritis continue to rise in Bahawalpur, with the total number of patients reported at various hospitals during the current week surpassing 400, it was reported on Friday.
According to available figures, more than 100 patients have required treatment due to worsening symptoms, while public sector hospitals remain on alert to manage the growing number of cases.
In the last 24 hours alone, 61 new gastroenteritis patients were reported at different hospitals.
Women accounted for the largest proportion of the newly reported cases, making them the most affected group among patients seeking medical care.
Medical experts have advised citizens to take preventive measures to avoid infection, particularly during the ongoing season when waterborne and foodborne illnesses tend to increase.
Doctors have urged the public to drink clean and safe water, maintain proper hygiene, and avoid consuming unhygienic or contaminated food from questionable sources.
