Five dangerous terrorists were eliminated in an encounter with Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel in Attock border area during an intelligence-based operation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, a CTD spokesperson said that the Department team had conducted an intelligence-based operation to arrest terrorists while the terrorists resorted to indiscriminate firing on the CTD personnel.
During the exchange of heavy fire, five terrorists of Fitna al-Khwari were killed in the retaliatory fire.
A suicide jacket, two hand grenades, three SMG, bullets and explosives were also recovered from the slain terrorists.
Further search operation was under way in Attock border areas to hunt down any more terrorists present in the region.
The process of identifying the slain terrorists was also under way.
The terrorists had completed planning for launching attacks in different areas of Punjab.
PM commends CTD operation
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the successful operation carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Attock District against terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij.
The prime minister lauded the CTD for eliminating five terrorists during the operation.
“The security forces, police, and CTD are achieving significant successes in the fight against terrorism,” the prime minister said in a statement.
“We are firmly committed to the complete eradication of all forms of terrorism from the country,” he added.
