Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry on Friday said that Pakistan Port Trust (KPT) set a new record by handling 26,51,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) till the end of the current fiscal year, it was reported on Friday.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhary said that this performance of KPT showed businessmen’s confidence in the maritime sector. He said that officials of Karachi Port Trust and employees worked hard to achieve this success.
The minister said that Pakistan will become a regional transshipment and logistics hub.
Karachi Port Trust Chairman Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmad said that reforms in the maritime sector and the latest infrastructure are playing a vital role in enhancing cargo traffic and strengthening the national economy and sea trade.
