The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission has declared the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) eligible for reserved seats, rejecting an appeal filed by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) against the allocation, it was reported on Friday.
According to the Election Commission, the PPP had challenged IPP’s eligibility and sought to prevent the party from receiving reserved seats.
However, after reviewing the matter, the commission dismissed the appeal and upheld IPP’s entitlement to the seats.
The decision marked a legal victory for IPP, clearing the way for the party to secure representation on reserved seats.
The Election Commission noted that the PPP retains the right to challenge the ruling before the Supreme Court if it wishes to pursue the matter further.
