GENEVA: Technical negotiations between the United States and Iran have concluded in Switzerland, with both sides agreeing to establish four joint working groups aimed at advancing discussions on critical political and economic issues.
According to Iranian officials, the newly formed groups will focus on sanctions relief, nuclear-related matters, economic reconstruction and development, and mechanisms for implementing and monitoring any future agreements. The move is intended to transform preliminary understandings reached during earlier discussions into practical steps toward broader cooperation.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the working groups would provide a structured framework for addressing complex technical issues and narrowing differences between the two countries.
Officials described the initiative as an effort to move negotiations beyond political rhetoric and toward concrete outcomes. Analysts believe upcoming discussions are likely to focus on Iran’s nuclear programme, easing economic restrictions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and potential avenues for economic cooperation.
The latest development comes amid renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran, raising hopes for improved relations. However, several sensitive issues remain unresolved, and further negotiations will be required before any comprehensive agreement can be reached.
