Gohar says political dialogue essential for democracy, rules out threat to system

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Gohar Ali Khan on Tuesday said political dialogue should continue in the interest of democracy, stressing that talks taking place in Parliament would not derail the political system.

Speaking at Parliament House, Gohar said politics was marked by twists and turns, but parties must continue engaging with each other for a greater national purpose.

“There should be clear-cut talks from both sides, and efforts for democracy must continue,” he said.

The PTI chairman emphasised that the ongoing parliamentary contacts and discussions should not be viewed as a threat to the democratic process or the existing system.

Commenting on the role of the National Assembly speaker, Gohar praised Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for facilitating dialogue between political stakeholders.

He said the speaker had consistently played a constructive role whenever required and had repeatedly helped bring both sides to the negotiating table.

Gohar reiterated that political engagement remained necessary to resolve differences and strengthen democratic institutions.
