World Cup ticket prices crash after USA and Portugal exit tournament

The elimination of the United States and Portugal from the FIFA World Cup has triggered a sharp drop in ticket prices on the secondary market, with some quarter-final seats now selling for less than half their previous value.

According to market reports, the biggest decline has been seen for Friday’s quarter-final in Los Angeles, where the cheapest resale ticket has fallen dramatically from nearly $2,950 to around $1,200 in just a few days.

The price drop followed the United States’ exit at the hands of Belgium, while Spain knocked out Portugal, bringing Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup journey to an end. Their departures significantly reduced demand from two of the tournament’s largest fan bases.

Ticket analysts believe prices would have remained much higher had the United States and Portugal advanced to face each other, a matchup that was expected to generate enormous global interest and attract thousands of traveling supporters.

Meanwhile, the quarter-final between France and Morocco has emerged as one of the most affordable matches of the round, with entry-level resale tickets available for approximately $989, making it the cheapest remaining knockout fixture.

Despite the recent decline in quarter-final prices, demand for the FIFA World Cup final remains exceptionally strong. The championship match, scheduled for July 19 in New Jersey, currently has resale tickets starting at around $9,346. Market experts expect those prices to fluctuate further depending on which teams qualify for the final.

Industry data also shows that the average resale price for quarter-final tickets has fallen noticeably over the past several days, while the number of tickets available for purchase has increased considerably.

With several football giants already eliminated, the World Cup ticket market has become increasingly unpredictable, offering bargain opportunities for some fans while leaving others closely watching prices ahead of the tournament’s biggest matches.
