Armed militants attacked a Federal Constabulary checkpost in the Shalozan Tangi area of Kurram district on Tuesday night, leaving seven security personnel injured, according to police.
Officials said the attackers opened fire on the checkpost, prompting Federal Constabulary personnel to respond immediately. A gun battle followed, during which security forces killed one of the assailants and injured several others.
Police said the surviving attackers fled the scene in the aftermath of the exchange but abandoned the body of their dead accomplice before escaping.
The seven injured Federal Constabulary personnel received medical assistance, while authorities launched an investigation into the attack. Security forces have also intensified search operations in the surrounding area to track down the fleeing militants.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. The incident adds to the continuing security challenges in Kurram, a district that has witnessed repeated militant violence in recent months.
