The Punjab government approved the construction of Maryam Nawaz Sports City in Lahore and also okayed its feasibility study, it was reported on Friday.
According to details, Maryam Nawaz Sports City will be constructed on an area of 300 acres as per international standards.
A meeting was held to review expenditure, environmental effects, and technical phases of the project. The Sports City will be constructed after the review of the feasibility study.
A detailed survey of the proposed site will be conducted, covering land availability, accessibility, and geographical conditions. Traffic impacts, geotechnical investigations, and utility systems will be assessed.
Environmental and social impacts, along with all other technical aspects, will also be evaluated.
The comprehensive master plan will incorporate all sports facilities, the road network, and parking arrangements. It will include landscaping, utilities, and other supporting infrastructure.
The proposed Maryam Nawaz Sports City project envisions the establishment of multiple world-class sports facilities.
Features include a multi-purpose outdoor stadium, a multi-sport indoor complex, and an Olympic-standard swimming arena.
It will also include a velodrome, squash arena, and courts for lawn tennis, padel tennis, and futsal.
An archery complex, multi-purpose sports ground, and sports institute are also part of the plan.
Facilities will include athlete hostels, administrative offices, commercial areas, and restaurants. Roads, parking, utilities, landscaping, and other public amenities will also be included.
