The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of the case filed against the Force formed to secure the release of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, ‘Imran Khan Release Force’ until the summer vacations were over.
During the hearing, PTI lawyer Ali Bukhari sought time from the court for the submission of his reply in the case, saying he was not only KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s counsel but also of PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja. “I have been told this morning that I also have to represent Raja in the case as well,” Bukhari said.
Speaking on the occasion, KP Advocate General (AG) said that this was a politically-motivated case.
He prayed to the court to give time to the party’s secretary general to file his reply in the case.
The AG said fear had been expressed in the constitutional petition that CM Afridi was going to form a private militia.
The petitioner’s lawyer requested the court to extend the time period of its order for maintaining law and order.
FCC Chief Justice (CJ) Aminuddin Khan said he did not think that the PTI would take the law into its own hands.
The chief justice said that the time period of the order was not going to expire today.
A three-member bench of the FCC, led by the CJ, heard the case.
