Australia’s Mitchell Starc moved past India great Kapil Dev on the all-time Test wicket-takers list on Friday.
Starc had equalled Kapil Dev’s tally of 434 wickets on Thursday after dismissing Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam.
On the second day, he removed wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das for a duck to take his tally to 435 Test wickets and move into 11th place among the highest wicket-takers in Test history.
The dismissal also made Starc the most successful left-arm bowler in Test cricket history, surpassing former Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath’s 433 wickets and Wasim Akram.
The 36-year-old reached the landmark in his 106th Test.
He now needs only five more wickets to enter the top 10, with former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn currently 10th with 439 wickets.
Pakistan pace legend Wasim Akram is third among the leading left-arm Test bowlers with 414 wickets.
