Pakistan delivered a strong performance at the 7th F-Class World Championship in Bisley, winning the individual FTR world title and securing a silver medal in the team competition.
Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali emerged as the Individual FTR World Champion, finishing ahead of a field of 207 leading long-range shooters from 24 countries.
The 12-member Pakistan rifle team, led by Lieutenant General Ahsan Gulrez, won four gold, four silver and five bronze medals in the individual competitions, giving Pakistan the highest number of FTR medals at the championship.
Junaid was Pakistan’s standout performer, winning three gold, one silver and one bronze medal in addition to claiming the individual world championship title.
His victory was described as Pakistan’s biggest individual achievement in international F-Class shooting.
Sepahi Muhammad Waleed also made an important contribution, winning one gold and one bronze medal.
Huzaifa Gul impressed in the Under-25 category, collecting three silver and two bronze medals.
Pakistan also had several shooters finish among the top 100, including Lt Gen Ahsan Gulrez, Lt Col Junaid Ali, Muhammad Waleed, Obaid, Qasim, Huzaifa Gul and Junaid Waqas.
The individual competitions were contested over distances of 800, 900 and 1,000 yards on Aug. 12 and 13.
Attention then turned to the FTR team competition, held on Aug. 15 and 16 over the same distances.
Eleven national teams, including former world and European champions, competed for the team title.
Pakistan remained in contention throughout a closely fought competition and eventually finished runners-up to secure the silver medal.
The result gave Pakistan a place on the podium in both the individual and team events at one of the leading international long-range shooting competitions.
The performance marked another significant step for Pakistan in F-Class shooting, with the team establishing itself among the leading international competitors within three years of competing at the highest level.
Pakistan’s medal haul and runner-up finish in the team championship highlighted the country’s growing depth and expertise in long-range rifle shooting.
