Retail cement prices declined across Pakistan during the week ended August 27, it was reported on Monday.
According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the average retail price of a 50kg cement bag in northern cities and areas fell to Rs1,555, down 0.63% from Rs1,565 recorded in the previous week.
Similarly, the average retail price in southern cities and areas dropped to Rs1,539 per bag, compared with Rs1,547 a week earlier, showing a decline of 0.53%.
According to the PBS data, the average retail price of a cement bag in Islamabad was Rs1,532, while it was Rs1,535 in Rawalpindi, Rs1,600 in Gujranwala, Rs1,500 in Sialkot and Rs1,590 in Lahore.
The average price stood at Rs1,550 in Faisalabad, Rs1,582 in Sargodha, Rs1,591 in Multan, Rs1,560 in Bahawalpur, Rs1,573 in Peshawar and Rs1,490 in Bannu.
In southern markets, the average retail price was Rs1,470 in Karachi, Rs1,519 in Hyderabad, Rs1,600 in Sukkur, Rs1,523 in Larkana, Rs1,520 in Quetta and Rs1,600 in Khuzdar.
The latest figures show a modest decline in cement prices in both northern and southern parts of the country.
