Pakistan Stock Exchange closes lower after volatile trading

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed in negative territory on Monday after a volatile trading session, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index shedding 453 points.

The market opened on a bearish note at the start of the new business week, with the index falling by around 500 points and moving towards the 165,900-point level.

Trading remained volatile throughout the session as investors responded to changing market sentiment. Selling pressure persisted, however, and the benchmark index finished the day at 165,966 points, down 453 points from the previous close of 166,419 points.

Shares worth approximately Rs8.26 billion were traded during the session. The total trading volume stood at 108.61 million shares.

At the close of the previous trading week, the KSE-100 Index had settled at 166,419 points.

The market’s decline on Monday reflected continued fluctuations during the session, although the available trading figures alone do not establish the reasons behind the downturn.
