Pakistani actress Meera has stepped forward in support of singer and actor Ali Zafar after his strong message against the online trolling surrounding Bollywood star Katrina Kaif’s post-pregnancy appearance.
Taking to Instagram, Meera shared a picture of herself along with a heartfelt note emphasizing that motherhood naturally brings physical changes and that women should not be judged for them.
“When a woman becomes a mother, her body changes her eyes, her skin, her weight. That is not a flaw, that is her sacrifice,” Meera wrote.
Expressing her agreement with Ali Zafar’s stance, the actress added, “I agree with Ali Zafar. you cannot judge a woman by fat, slim, or puffy eyes. He is a real man who understands a mother’s journey.”
Meera went on to extend her support to Katrina, declaring, “Katrina Kaif is beautiful. Every mother is beautiful. Respect, don’t judge.”
Her message has resonated with her followers, with the comments section filling up with users expressing agreement with her stance and praising her for speaking about body shaming and the unrealistic expectations often placed on women.
It is worthy to mention that Meera’s statement comes shortly after Ali Zafar addressed the criticism directed at his former ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ co-star.
Katrina, who welcomed her son with husband Vicky Kaushal last year, recently made a public appearance at an Ambani family Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Images and videos from the event prompted sections of social media to compare her current appearance with her pre-pregnancy look.
Reacting to the discussion, Ali shared a video in which he questioned the mindset behind judging women according to rigid standards of beauty. He urged men in particular to look within themselves and reconsider the way they comment on women’s bodies and appearances.
The Pakistani star also acknowledged that he, like many others, had made mistakes in the past, stressing that what matters is recognising those mistakes, learning from them and correcting one’s behaviour.
Ali and Katrina previously shared the screen in the 2011 romantic comedy ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’, making his comments particularly notable as he defended his former co-star amid the social media backlash.
