BRIDGETOWN: Pakistan batter Maaz Sadaqat produced a remarkable individual performance in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final, smashing a century for Jamaica Kings while becoming the first Pakistani batter to score a hundred in a franchise T20 final.
Sadaqat delivered an explosive 114 off 58 balls against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, with his innings featuring eight fours and nine sixes. Despite his extraordinary effort, Jamaica Kings were unable to lift the trophy after the Falcons chased down their target with 20 balls to spare.
The Pakistani batter came into the final already having made headlines during the tournament. His latest innings, however, took his campaign to another level and added his name to the CPL record books.
Sadaqat’s century was also the first-ever hundred scored in a CPL final, making the performance a landmark moment in the tournament’s history.
Maaz Sadaqat shines despite defeat
Jamaica Kings posted 170 runs, largely thanks to Sadaqat’s blistering knock.
The Pakistan batter attacked from the outset and maintained a remarkable scoring rate throughout his innings. His combination of powerful hitting and controlled strokeplay kept Jamaica’s innings moving even as wickets fell around him.
His nine sixes provided much of the entertainment, while eight boundaries helped him reach three figures in style.
However, the Falcons responded strongly in the chase. Antigua and Barbuda reached the target with just two wickets down and 20 deliveries remaining, leaving Sadaqat’s outstanding century on the losing side.
The result meant his record-breaking performance did not translate into the CPL title.
Another record for the young batter
Maaz Sadaqat had already created history earlier in the tournament during the Eliminator.
He smashed 112 from 49 balls, becoming the youngest centurion in CPL history. His second century of the campaign further underlined his impact during the 2026 season.
Across seven matches, Sadaqat finished with 363 runs at an average of 60.50 and a remarkable strike rate of 174.52.
