ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkiye have condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination with Riyadh under the Makkah defence agreement, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The commitment was reiterated during the first meeting on Friday between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul.
Dar thanked Fidan for hosting the R4 and R4 Plus ministerial meetings and expressed condolences over the loss of lives caused by heavy rains and floods in Turkiye, wishing those affected a speedy recovery.
The two ministers discussed bilateral relations, regional developments and the situation in the Middle East, including Palestine. They expressed concern over threats to regional stability and stressed the need for dialogue, diplomacy and joint efforts to promote peace and security.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening longstanding friendly ties, expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest and deepening collaboration at bilateral and multilateral forums, the Foreign Office said.
