ISLAMABAD: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said the benefits of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must be visible to the public through a reduction in terrorism and the restoration of peace in the province.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament House, the governor said the elimination of terrorism required continuity in government policies and strict implementation of the National Action Plan.
He said a comprehensive counterterrorism policy had already been formulated and must be implemented effectively to address security challenges.
Saleem Haider said consistent implementation of decisions taken by the Apex Committee was essential for eliminating terrorism and establishing lasting peace.
He said the period of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must produce tangible results, particularly in improving the security situation and reducing terrorist activities.
Responding to questions about alleged extrajudicial killings in Punjab, the governor said he was unaware of any such cases in the province.
He said he also had no information about anyone approaching the courts over allegations of extrajudicial killings.
Referring to development in the provinces, Saleem Haider said the public would decide through their votes whether provincial governments had delivered development.
