Pakistan Army destroys Afghan Taliban posts in retaliatory action along border

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army troops destroyed several Afghan Taliban check posts and targeted military installations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in response to unprovoked firing from the Afghan side on October 27, security sources said.

According to security sources, the Pakistan Army launched retaliatory action following firing by Afghan Taliban forces in the Angoor Adda area near South Waziristan.

The sources said Pakistani troops successfully targeted multiple Afghan Taliban check posts and military installations in areas adjacent to South Waziristan and Parachinar.

During the operation, Pakistan Army troops used heavy weapons against Afghan Taliban positions, forcing personnel to abandon their check posts and retreat, the sources said.

Security sources also reported that several Afghan Taliban personnel were killed during the retaliatory action. However, the exact number of casualties was not disclosed.

The sources said the military response followed what they described as unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces along the border.

They said Pakistan’s security forces remained committed to defending the country’s territorial integrity and protecting its citizens.

The sources said there would be no compromise on national security and that security forces would continue taking necessary measures to safeguard the country’s borders.
