ISLAMABAD:Sales of petroleum products totalled 1.48 million tonnes in October 2026, down 1.0 percent year-on-year (YoY) but up 10 percent month-on-month (MoM) basis, mainly driven by a seasonal increase in high-speed diesel (HSD) demand, it was reported on Tuesday.
According to oil sales data, total oil marketing companies (OMCs) sales during the first four months of FY27 reached 5.6 million tonnes, up four per cent from the corresponding period last year, primarily due to a significant increase in furnace oil (FO) sales.
Excluding furnace oil, OMC sales stood at 1.38 million tonnes in October, down six per cent YoY but up 10 per cent MoM.
Cumulative sales during July-October FY27 amounted to 5.2 million tonnes, reflecting a 2.0 per cent decline from the same period last year.
Petrol sales fell 2.0 per cent both YoY and MoM to 642,000 tonnes in October. HSD sales declined seven per cent YoY but rose 26 per cent MoM to 662,000 tonnes as seasonal demand picked up.
Average motor spirit (MS) prices rose 46 per cent YoY to Rs387 per litre, while HSD prices increased 45 per cent to Rs396 per litre.
Furnace oil sales surged 3.4 times YoY and increased 2.0 per cent MoM to 95,000 tonnes in October. The increase was mainly attributed to LNG shortages, which led to higher furnace oil consumption for power generation.
Among listed OMCs, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) recorded sales of 693,000 tonnes in October, up eight per cent both YoY and MoM.
However, its market share fell 61 basis points (bps) MoM to 46.9 per cent, as its shares in petrol and HSD sales declined by 227bps and 143bps, respectively.
Wafi Energy recorded sales of 136,000 tonnes, its highest monthly volume in 52 months, up 12 per cent YoY and 24 per cent MoM.
Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) posted sales of 123,000 tonnes, down 1.0 per cent YoY but up six per cent MoM. Its market share declined by 31bps to 8.31 per cent during the month.
