Beyoncé’s secret songs stolen just days before major tour show

Unreleased music by global pop icon Beyoncé was reported stolen from a vehicle in Atlanta, just days before her four-night performance series in the city as part of her ongoing Cowboy Carter stadium tour, police officials confirmed.

According to Atlanta Police Department, hard drives containing unreleased and watermarked tracks, detailed choreography plans, past and upcoming show setlists, and other sensitive materials were taken from a rented vehicle used by Beyoncé’s choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue.

The incident took place on July 8, two days before the singer’s first show in the city.

The rented black Jeep Wagoneer was reportedly parked near a local food hall when its rear window was smashed. Upon returning, the vehicle’s occupants discovered that two suitcases were missing.

A police incident report stated the stolen contents included “five jump drives containing watermarked music, unreleased music, footage plans for shows past and future, and set list”.

The report further mentioned the theft of additional personal items including a laptop, designer clothing, and Apple AirPods. Law enforcement has since tracked potential movement of the stolen electronics using built-in tracking software, and have also recovered two faint fingerprints from the vehicle.

An arrest warrant has been issued, but the suspect’s identity has not yet been made public. Authorities have not confirmed whether the stolen items, particularly the unreleased music, have been recovered.

No official statement has been issued by Beyoncé’s team as yet. The singer is currently in Atlanta for her Cowboy Carter tour, with her final performance in the city scheduled for Monday night.

The incident has sparked concern among fans and those involved in the music industry, given the sensitive nature of the materials lost. Choreographer Grant is known for his work with a host of international artists, including Shakira, while dancer Diandre Blue recently featured alongside Beyoncé in a 2024 Super Bowl commercial promoting her Cowboy Carter album.

Beyoncé’s third show in Atlanta saw a surprise guest appearance by her husband and fellow music icon Jay-Z, underscoring the significance of the tour stop for the artist.
