Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Ardeshir Larijani, at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Tuesday. Dr. Larijani is currently on an official visit to Pakistan.
Welcoming his distinguished guest, Shehbaz highlighted the historical and close brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, emphasizing the need to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation across various fields. Dr. Larijani likewise underscored the importance of enhancing Pakistan-Iran ties in a wide range of mutually beneficial areas.
Both sides exchanged views on important regional and international developments and stressed the importance of concerted efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
Shehbaz appreciated Iran’s principled stance on regional issues and expressed gratitude for Iran’s solidarity with Pakistan during difficult times. Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to joint efforts for a peaceful and prosperous future, he conveyed his respect and good wishes to His Excellency Seyyed Ali Khamenei and His Excellency President Masoud Pezishkian, thanking them for their support to Pakistan and their commitment to stronger bilateral relations.
Dr. Larijani thanked the Pakistani nation and leadership for their unwavering support to Iran during the recent 12-day war and acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in advocating dialogue and diplomacy for peaceful dispute resolution.
It was agreed during the meeting that a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will soon visit Iran to further promote cooperation in various sectors, particularly agriculture and connectivity/communications.
